Wat does your role entail?

We are looking for a driven professional who likes to contribute to further professionalize our team by using their experience in dairy farming and preferably software development or advisory. As an Agriculture Software Consultant in the Farm Management Support (FMS) department at Lely, you are responsible for supporting the optimal use of our farm management software, for today and in the future. You understand what drives a (dairy) farmer and have the skills to find the underlying patterns of different needs worldwide. You use your listening and inquiring skills to do this for example during a visit to one of our worldwide locations. You will use your knowledge  to ensure that our customers get the most out of our software and improve their business processes. In this role in the FMS Digital Farming team, you are the bridge between our customers and our internal teams such as software development teams and product management, solving problems and working together on making improvements.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supporting and training our international colleagues on how to apply our farm management software.
  • Actively contribute to developing new functionalities in collaboration with software engineers.
  • Identify and analyze the needs of farmers and stakeholders.
  • Delivering training and workshops to our international colleagues and internal teams.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Acting as a sparring partner for the team lead and mentoring more junior team members
Qualifications

You know your way around the dairy farm, you understand better than anyone what a farmer goes through and what they encounter. You know how to convert this knowledge into practical processes and you know how to tell our software developers exactly what is needed in the next software update to satisfy our end customer, the farmer.

You also have:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in the agricultural field, preferably in Dronten, Wageningen, Den Bosch or a (technical) education with otherwise gained working knowledge of (dairy) farming.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an advising role within the agricultural sector (preferably dairy farming). Previous experience in a software development environment is a big plus, interest in this field is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language. You currently live in the Netherlands and have a valid work permit. Command of the Dutch language or willingness to learn is a big plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
