Job

Introduction to the job

Within ASML, the sector Development and Engineering is responsible for the specification, design, integration, qualification, and sustaining of all ASML products. The Software Quality and Integration (SQI) department is responsible to integrate, qualify and release high-quality, first-time-right software to our customers.

In a dedicated team consisting of software test and test automation engineers you will test software that plays a pivotal role in realizing the core functionality of our high end TWINSCA DUV and EUV machines.

You will interact with colleagues in Development and Engineering but also with system integration, customer support and factory Departments.

Role and Responsibilities

As a senior system software test engineer you will take the lead to design, develop, realize system level test scenarios based on specifications, in cooperation with software engineers, product architects and test architects. You will maintain and extend system level software verification test scenarios to test software solutions that increase the capabilities of our machines or that are essential for the creation of a new line of machines.

In addition, you will support the long term development by taking responsibility for the definition and execution of our SW test roadmap.

You will:

  • Be the quality focused eye and conscience in the team.
  • Maintain and improve existing test scenarios as well as define, design and implement new high-value tests scenarios and cases to increase the quality of software deliveries.
  • Cooperate with system integration, factory and customer support Departments to understand customer behavior and use cases better.
  • Extend test scope by incorporating valid customer use cases and configurations.
  • Execute the defined test sets to qualify a SW delivery.
  • Provide your assessment: is the software ready for release?
  • When issues are found, raise defects and ensure the delivering project accepts ownership.
  • Use the test results, to define and perform additional tests to check for more issues.
  • Participate in the risk assessment of the changes made in the software.
  • Evaluate customer feedback and define – when possible – preventive actions to extend test coverage and improve qualification.
  • Improve our test setups and so we can improve our test coverage.
  • Automation should be performed using the Python scripts and/or as keyword driven test scripts using Robot Framework.

Education and experience

We look for a person with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Embedded Systems or equivalent. Next to it, you need to have:

  • At least 7 years of experience in system level/black box testing (preferably high-tech, complex systems).
  • Experience in upgrade/downgrade, portability (installability, compatibility, interoperability), configuration, calibration, performance, functionality and security testing domains.
  • Experience with defining software test strategy, including different test types and test levels (requirement based testing, system testing, performance testing, component testing, test in isolation, test driven development).
  • Experience with Linux (type) operating system and Python.
  • Affinity with tools and frameworks such as GMock / GTest, Robot Framework
  • Experience with test framework design, unit testing and executable creation is an added advantage.
  • ISTQB Certification is a must.

Skills
  • You should first of all be passionate about technology and should be excited by the idea that your work will impact millions of end-users worldwide.
  • You are instinctively skilled at testing: Test to break, not to pass.
  • You are not afraid to debate technical aspects within and outside the team (especially with system architects, software architects and test architects) because you know that we will always choose the best solution.
  • You want to be a part of a dynamic and challenging environment that leaves no room for errors in the live environment.
  • You are a strong communicator with a pragmatic attitude.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
